How a booking request works

Updated 17 October 2026

On listings with a Request trip button, your booking goes to the captain first. You are not charged until the captain accepts, and the trip is confirmed only after you complete payment.

Book now or Request trip

  • Book now: you pay at checkout and the booking is confirmed.
  • Request trip: the captain reviews your dates and group first. On listings that take a deposit, the button reads Pay Deposit.

What happens after you send a request

  1. The request opens a chat with the captain in your Inbox. You can ask questions there while you wait.
  2. While the captain has not answered, the request shows as pending. Nothing has been charged.
  3. When the captain accepts, Reelzy emails you. Click Complete Booking in the email, or open the chat in your Inbox, and complete payment.
  4. Once paid, the trip appears under Trips at reelzy.co/traveling/current.

If the request expires

If the captain does not answer in time, or the trip date arrives first, the request expires and nothing is charged. An accepted request that is never paid also expires once the trip date has passed. Expired requests are listed under the Previous tab in Trips. You can send a new request for other dates or choose another boat.

If the captain declines

You are not charged. Try other dates on the same listing or look at other boats in the area.
